Le Mans V10, unmuffled.

The Carrera GT's 5.7-litre V10 was never meant for a road car. It began as a racing engine for the LMP2000 prototype, was shelved when the rules changed, and came back as 612 PS at 8,000 rpm with an 8,400 rpm limit, titanium rods and a dry sump. There is no turbocharger anywhere between it and you.

Engineering

Polished front pipes with braided flex sections merge into an X, then a pair of burnt titanium silencers and twin round tips, valve-controlled. On a naturally aspirated V10 the silencer volume is what sets the character, so the pair is sized rather than simply hollowed out.
